Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a gorgeous Quezal iridescent Art Glass flower form compote with gold interior and green pulled feather exterior and green and gold zipper pattern on base.
This nice compote has vibrant gold iridescence with highlights of purple and blue on the interior with onionskin texture and scalloped rim. The compote sits on a low, knobby stem and convex shaped base. This compote is much more beautiful than our photos do justice. Marked on the base "Quezal, N 518". He had worked for Louis Comfort Tiffany prior to going into business for himself.
He died in 1921 and his sons who had been working with him disbanded the company in 1924. Quezel art glass is known for the quality of his glass creations and along with Tiffany's Favrile and Frederick Carder's Aurene glass made for Steuben, this glass is included in all the American art glass collections of glass from the early 20th Century.
Measures 3" high with a 5 1/2" diameter top and 3 1/8 diameter base. This beautiful compote is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws reflecting only minimal signs of normal wear.
